Network Marketing – The Power of Working Like a Tribe

Rediscovering the value of “Tribes” or interest groups, whether online or offline, and putting our tribal buying power behind well-selected network marketing companies will serve the public better than waiting for the government or corporations to “create jobs.”

This statement goes against the old system of putting in 40 hours a week for 40 years to earn the right to live on 40% of our maximum income. However, most of the public will find my suggestion to do otherwise ridiculous. It’s too different, they might say.

Many of these people are spending all the money they can borrow to go back to school and learn how to be a useful cog in an industrial machine that has recently betrayed them. Why beg corporations to abuse them again by seeking ever cheaper sources of labor?

To find security, we must look back through human history to see the success that can be had by working together as a tribe. This industrialized social organization is quite recent and, judging by its results, it has been a resounding failure.

We need to return to a System of Social and Business Organization that works for the Tribe

We live, most of us, in a “disconnected” society. We fear and mistrust each other and instead place our trust in government agencies to provide for us. How is that working?

This brainwashing has been very successful in getting us to take politicians’ talk of “job creation” seriously. This is ridiculous. Businesses create jobs; The government may temporarily employ people with money who have extorted money from the rest of us, but this is not a true expansion of opportunity.

I say this as someone who worked for ten years in the field of economic development, aimed at using federal and other tax dollars to incentivize businesses to create jobs. Most of that money was poured down rat holes, never to be seen again. The companies left as soon as the tax incentives ran out.

The big hits we had were maverick projects that enlisted the community to work together to become more engaging and in tune with the businesses of the future. In a sense, we used the feeling of “tribe” in small communities to harness the power of volunteers who were motivated by a common cause: the survival and health of their community.

Using the Internet and/or social communities to create financial success is the true promise of network marketing, once properly understood. In its truest sense, legitimate network marketing organizations are “faith-based communities” cooperating for their financial well-being.

The key to making these systems work for the many people who are out of work or threatened with losing their jobs is to return to outdated traits of self-confidence and a protected trust in our tribe of associates who have proven themselves reliable.

We must redevelop our sense of community or tribe

There is no question that network marketing works when we deliver the results that the MLM companies agree to pay for. The big pitfalls are as follows: 1) The general public has been so conditioned to doubt their own abilities to check the validity of business opportunities; 2) We have also been taught to automatically react to anything business-related as a “scam” and dismiss it and the anchors; and 3) The public’s mistrust of their own abilities and those they know leaves them at the mercy of corporations and government agencies, which do not have the best interests of the individual in mind; and finally, 4) Even those who timidly try network marketing don’t practice the traditional qualities of patience, trusting their own judgment to be sound, and don’t stick with it long enough to see results.

It also bears mentioning that the public has been misled by the media into believing that their best way to acquire wealth is by winning a lottery, becoming a professional athlete, or the rare successful author or musician.

So if selling is a bad career in most people’s minds, but they like it, and in fact, have to — to buy stuff, Why not buy as a tribe? and get paid for your brand loyalty and word of mouth advertising?

Network marketing is the most evolved system of income generation. It offers exactly what the world needs and desires most today: leveraged income that flows to people who come together as a tribe to consume and promote valuable products. When it works, it looks so easy to the world that it doubts they think, “There must be a catch in here somewhere!”
