What am I giving up for Lent?

Don’t worry, I’m not going crazy for religious reasons. …

Having recovered from my trials and tribulations in January, I headed into February with a passionate verve revived. She had finally overcome the nagging cold and was ready for action. I entered the exercise regimen, not expecting too much of myself after a break of almost 3 weeks. Passion was blazing, a light ember within her. As the week progressed, I continued to exceed my expectations. I tried a little harder and while I was at it I added a new cardio regimen called High Intensity Interval Training. It is exactly what it sounds like and can be accomplished in 20 minutes. (I’ll explain it in more detail in the next article)

Now, one particular client I’ll call Jackie has been working with me since the end of the summer, and while she’s made some great gains in fitness, she hasn’t lost the weight she had set out to do. In fact, you have gained a pound or two. So while working out this new cardio regimen, I invited Jackie to join me. With the cold weather still lingering, we used to use their gym more often, which is why no one else has been invited.

So the first week Jackie and I do cardio 3-4 times in addition to the training regimen. The second week yours really feels foolproof. My passion is a red-hot ember and I am about to save the world of fitness. If Jackie isn’t getting motivated to do her cardio one day, I jump in and do more to get Jackie turned on. The result of Debs’ passion is that Deb exercises 3 times plus 6 days cardio, Jackie 2 workouts + 2 cardio. Despite all my efforts, I now have a mild cold again and have to get out of workouts for a whole week. I was just trying to do my best and do my best and I ended up getting flogged. Now I realize that I cannot save the fitness industry.

So by slow, I’m giving up passion and giving in to practicality. The following article will address several more topics related to “Passion”, its problems and how to avoid them. I believe there is a place for passion, it will haunt me and make me friend and foe for the rest of my life, like my Catholic roots.

Meanwhile, several clients have expressed a need for cardio to lose weight. Once the weather gets a little warmer, I’ll be organizing groups and times when we get together in the park to do collective cardio. Basically, we will divide into groups of walkers / brisk walkers, walkers / runners, and runners / sprinters. I’ll keep everyone posted on the details. Email me at [email protected] to keep your spot. You will all be grateful that I have learned my lesson and I will not force you too much.
