Ronaldinho was born into a family of soccer addicts, living in a wooden house in the heart of a favela. His father, Joao da Silva Moreira, who played for an amateur club, made ends meet working as a parking attendant at the Gremio Football Club. His brother Roberto was a great hope for the club, but then sadly his career ended with a terrible knee injury.

At the age of 8, Tregedy struck when Ronaldinho’s father drowned in a swimming pool in a villa provided by Gremio for Roberto. Following in the footsteps of his brother Ronnie, he joined the Guild football school and wowed everyone present. He entered the first team in 1997 and was being heralded as one of the best young hopefuls in Brazilian soccer. Meanwhile, he was already advancing with the national team, and his six goals were instrumental in Brazil’s triumph in the 1999 Copa América.

In 2001, Ronaldinho moved to PSG, where he became a fan favorite with his tremendous talent and exciting football style, contributing a host of goals as well. His prime came at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea, where he was a key member of the team that won Brazil’s fifth record world title – he scored in the quarterfinals and played an integral role in midfield in the final.

Ronaldinho later moved to Barcelona, ​​arguably the biggest club in the world, for what now seems like a bargain of £ 21,000,000. When he arrived, he said that his wish was to bring the club as many successes as so many Brazilians before him, such as Evaristo, Ronaldo, Romario and Rivaldo, had done.
