Rebalancing of the energy field to restore the health of the body

Energy therapy, also known as energy healing, spiritual healing, or energy medicine, is a branch of alternative medicine that proposes imbalances in the “energy field” within the human body that result in disease. Therefore, any attempt to rebalance the energy field can help restore the body to health.

Proponents of this therapy reveal that healing or treatment is about getting rid of blockages or negative energies in the mind. Also, a subsequent episode of ill health and illness presents as a release of ‘shrinkage’ in the body and mind. Some recommend additional treatment to completely cure the condition in severe or persistent cases. Therefore, the therapist would recommend conventional medicine.

Types of energy therapy

Energy therapy promotes the concept of a healer who has the ability to channel healing to a person seeking help, using different methods such as distance healing, manual healing, and direct healing. Furthermore, energy therapy is nondenominational, which means that religious faith is not a prerequisite for receiving a cure.

Therapy can be distinguished between health care that involves observable energy (True Energy Medicine) and health care methods that invoke unverifiable or physically undetectable energies (Putative Energy Medicine).

True Energy Medicine (VEM)

Types of EMV include color needling, light therapy, and magnetic therapy. Generally, conventional medicine using electromagnetic radiation (magnetic resonance imaging or radiotherapy) is not advanced as energy medicine.

Putative Energy Medicine (PEM)

Types of PEM include biofield healing therapy in which the hands are used to modulate or direct “energies” that are believed to cause healing. The technique includes Psychic Healing, Spiritual Healing, Therapeutic Touch, Magnetic Healing, Esoteric Healing, Healing Touch, Qigong Healing, Pranic Healing, Reiki, Crystal Healing, Distant Healing, Ayurvedic Medicine and Acupuncture.

Various terms have often been used to describe putative energy fields, such as Prana, Qi (Chi), Mana, Life Fluid, Pneuma, Orgone, Odic Force, etc. For example, Yoga is believed to alter the subtle pathways (Prana) in the body. However, yoga uses various actions such as deep breathing and stretching that are believed to manipulate energy.

polarity therapy

This is a form of medicine that promotes the notion that an individual’s health is subject to negative and positive charges within their electromagnetic field. As a result, polarity therapy is considered capable of curing various human ailments, from cancer to muscle stiffness. However, some recent research findings contradict claims that polarity therapy does treat diseases, including cancer.
