Letter Writing: Confrontational Letter Writing Definition

‘Confrontation letter writing’ is a different form of letter writing.

A confrontation card is a card that confronts a situation, a problem, or a dispute. Look for a specific target from the receiver that will not normally be awarded without resistance.

The writer wants a certain goal and the recipient of the letter will not grant that goal unless he is convinced that he must.

It is not a lighthearted letter exchanging courtesies. It is starkly confrontational and directly confronts a problem and seeks to elicit a favorable response from the recipient of the letter. In most cases, the recipient is not eager to provide the requested goal.

Generally, there are two basic situations in which a letter of this type arises:

The first situation: a person has received an important and serious letter from another person, a government, a regulator / authority, a lawyer, a bank, a corporation, an institution, etc. – a letter containing a demand of some kind.

The individual needs to confront and respond effectively to that letter. You need a well-written persuasive letter that vigorously confronts that party with their own position and attempts to persuade that party to moderate, postpone, or drop the lawsuit.

The second situation: an individual has a serious situation or problem and wants to confront and persuade a third party: another individual, the government, regulator / authority, a lawyer, a bank, a corporation, an institution, etc. do something: accept your request for some kind of action or tolerance.

To achieve this goal, the individual needs a well-written persuasive letter that will persuade the recipient to accept their request.

These cards are confrontation cards. Cards dealing with a serious problem situation and trying to solve the problem exclusively through the use of letters.

To be effective, this form of letter writing should generally be limited to letter writing only and should not be augmented by verbal confrontation. This is because, in many cases, verbal confrontation gives a clear and unfair advantage to the recipient of the letter.

The ‘confrontational letter writing’ is a different way of writing letters and to increase the chances of success, it must necessarily be written by a writer who has experience in writing such letters. This is not the type of exercise that a beginner or average layman can normally do: expertise and experience are essential.

The professionals most adept at writing conflicting letters are attorneys who have had extensive experience in this type of writing. Many of the skills necessary to be a successful confrontational letter writer are the same skills that make you an effective litigator or negotiator in the courtroom.

While general advice can be given on the best way to write and structure confrontational letters, there is no substitute for experience. A newbie faced with the urgent need to send an effective confrontation letter should seek professional help.
