Hackers, coins and real solutions to global warming

There has recently been a controversy about hackers who hacked into the UN site dealing with climate change and found some falsified data and sloppy research. Some have used that to claim that global warming is a hoax. There is a problem with that. The UN body is just one of many bodies – academic, government, business and private – that have evidence of global warming. And if some idiots at the UN have spared no effort, that says nothing about the reality of global warming, which has much more credible evidence than that provided by the UN.

These people now claim that global warming is a hoax. Tell that to the people of Malawi and Kiribati, whose countries are sinking into the sea as a result of melting glaciers. Tell that to the people of New Orleans. Tell that to the people who died in Europe’s heatwaves and Australia’s bushfires. Tell that to the people in cities as big as Jakarta, which are now constantly inundated as the ocean waters rise.

Some see these events as unrelated to carbon emissions and postulate other explanations, such as natural weather cycles. There is nothing cyclical in the fact that there is the greatest amount of CO2 in the atmosphere in 450,000 years. There is nothing natural about ocean water turning acidic and killing all the fish. When you cut down forests and increase carbon emissions, carbon dioxide only has two places to go. One is the oceans, where it makes the water acidic and no longer supports life. The other is the atmosphere, where it reflects the sun’s rays from the earth’s surface into outer space and bounces them back to the earth’s surface, causing it to heat up. On the planet Venus, whose atmosphere is largely carbon dioxide, this greenhouse effect is so bad that its surface temperature is 500 degrees. And if this is not addressed now, then that is the direction we are going.

As for the people who are waiting for Armageddon, I have bad news. Burning the planet will not get you to heaven or anywhere near heaven. These people should not be anxiously awaiting Armageddon; they should be terrified of that. They want to take away their children’s future and their children’s right to a deliverable world so they can have their own selfish salvation. No god would look kindly on such a thing.

In the year 20 AD. C., a Roman named Hero of Alexandria invented the steam engine. The Romans thought that slave labor was cheap enough and there was no need for this invention. If they had thought ahead, they would have been able to industrialize 1800 years earlier, abolish slavery, and create military machines that would have made mincemeat of any invading army, and the world would still be speaking Latin to this day. Instead, they upheld the horrible institution of slavery that was the legitimate source of resentment and hatred against the Roman Empire and the world, and the Roman Empire went down in flames. Technologies are now available to meet all of humanity’s energy and water needs in processes that are totally non-polluting. Choosing to embrace these technologies or maintain the status quo, humanity faces a similar choice but on a much larger scale.

There are real solutions to global warming. And I don’t mean going into subsistence farming any more than I mean thinking positive or asking Jesus or aliens to save us. I mean real technological solutions, technically and economically viable, that will allow people to keep everything they have while drastically reducing the load on the planet. What solutions are these?

Much has been written about solar power, wind power, nuclear power, and biofuels; but there is a technology that is superior to all of them. It hasn’t been in the news, but it should be. What if I told you that there is a technology that will provide both the energy and water needs of humanity, abundant, clean, 24 hours a day, on demand and unlimited, through a process that only requires the sun? and ocean water and produces at the consumer end only clean energy and clean water to be recycled back into the environment?

What if I told you that this mechanism will be twice as energy efficient as the electrical grid; it will put an end to the charge on lakes, rivers and underground water resources; it will replace two systems with one system, achieving a great economic benefit; And will it allow oil resources to last longer and be used for more profitable high-end products?

What if I told you that this technology has been reviewed and found to be economically and technically feasible, and a vast improvement over the status quo?

In fact, there is such a technology. It is called the Hydrogen Transport Network. In the Hydrogen Transmission Network, solar energy will drive the electrolysis of ocean water, breaking it down into Hydrogen and Oxygen. The oxygen will be released into the air; hydrogen will be sent through pipelines to homes, offices, farms, and places of industry and commerce, to react using oxygen in the air to create clean energy and clean water at the same time. Hydrogen will also be piped to filling stations to fuel hydrogen-based vehicles. All of humanity’s water and energy needs can be met through a process that takes nothing that cannot be replaced and creates nothing that is in any way harmful. And since the transmission of hydrogen through pipelines is nearly lossless, this mechanism will be more than twice as energy efficient as grid power.

There are other parts of the solution that aren’t discussed much, but they should be. Sahara is a vast desert where no human or animal lives except in the oases. It is not ecological at all; It is a man-made creation, put in place by the Berbers who used slash-and-burn agriculture in what was then the rainforest, just as the Brazilians are using slash-and-burn agriculture in the rainforest now. Right now, the Sahara is the emptiest, most useless, most arid stretch of land on the planet. What would happen if it was converted to forests and farmland? How much CO2 would be removed from the atmosphere and how much food would be produced to feed Africans then?

How much CO2 would be removed from the atmosphere, and how much human benefit would be gained, if the same were done to the deserts of Arabia, Mongolia, Rajasthan, the Australian outback, and parts of the American Southwest that were deforested by the Anasazi?

These solutions not only reap benefits by reducing global warming. These solutions obtain economic, technical and environmental benefits in themselves. Even if there are other ways to tackle global warming, these solutions are beneficial to both humanity and the environment. Intelligence is the true saving grace of humanity. And with the application of real intelligence, a viable future for humanity and the planet may be on the way.

The solution to global warming is not to deny or misrepresent it any more than to destroy the economy or civilization. The real solution to global warming is to use better technologies instead of the outdated technologies that created the mess in the first place. One need not fear anything from these solutions and have a lot to look forward to from them.

It’s time to implement real solutions to global warming.
