Golf Instruction – Put like a tiger

I’d like to share some golf instruction that helped me improve my game. I learned this tidbit of putting information out while watching Tiger Woods on TV a few years ago. The best thing about this laying technique is that you can see the results immediately just by following Tiger Wood’s lead.

As the great baseball philosopher Yogi Berra once said, “You can see a lot of things just by looking.” Anyway, this is what I observed. After Tiger performed the ritual putt on him, he practiced hitting behind the ball while facing the cup.

Since he was facing the cup, Tiger had a much better view of the break of his putt. Instead of tackling his putt and turning his head toward the line of putt, he was seeing the line using his bicameral vision better.

Also, when you were making your practice putt behind the ball, you had an idea of the distance to putt. I feel like the extra couple of feet he was standing behind the ball made him a bolder putter. Of course, the cameras follow Tiger all over the golf course and I was able to really study his technique.

Sitting there in my easy chair on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I was getting some golf instruction from the best player in the world. He couldn’t wait to get to the golf course after studying Tiger Wood’s method of shooting. I had to see if this method would work for me.

Well, the results couldn’t have been clearer or more immediate. I was able to see the line more clearly and felt more confident as I walked to tackle the putt. This method has definitely helped my putting.

I feel like it would be useful for other avid recreational golfers. I’m not sure if Tiger still uses this method before kicking. If he still does, you can watch it the next time he’s on TV and benefit from this helpful golf instruction.

Let the best player in the world help you improve your putting technique like he helped improve mine.
