First Love – Nepalese Movie Review

In the chain of Nepalese films that are being made in digital format, First love It was released on August 6 across the country. The film earned around 8 million rupees in the first week of its release, according to the film’s producer and distributor. The source also claimed that it was a record transaction for a Nepalese film. For two weeks he didn’t have a Nepalese opponent, but in the third week he had two films to compete with, one being Alok Nembang’s Kohi Mero and the other being Bikash Acharya’s Nai Nabhannu La. Both films had a good appreciation of the spectators. So it’s not wrong to say that First Love had a hard time attracting viewers.

First Love is led by Simosh Sunuwar, a young and devoted director, who is the son of the famous radio and folk singer, the late Pandav Sunuwar. Simosh’s first feature film was Mission Paisa, which was released in 2009. It launched actress Nisha Adhikari into the world of Nepalese films. Nisha has also acted in First Love; plays the girl who is in love with Aryan Sigdel’s character. He is her first love; on the other hand, Karma (Mahesh Shakya) loves Nisha, but her love is one-sided. Similarly, Binay Shrestha falls in love with Richa Sharma, after meeting her once. This is a very confusing situation in the movie, not unlike many others we’ve seen.

The film revolves around these five characters, who attend the same university; this movie reveals a lot about university life in cities. Some of the scenes in this movie feel like they’ve been derived from other movies. This is not something new for many Nepalese and for that subject, any other cinema in the world. However, the film has superior scenes and photographs, with admirable use of the camera. What makes viewers uncomfortable is part of the plot, which is otherwise fine. The scene where Binay rapes Richa and is later forgiven, and when Nisha decides to Aryan about Karma, who sacrifices everything for her, it seems idealistic.

This Nepalese movie has a message to give and that is that the first love is the best love, which provides the wrong message to the viewers. In particular, in cases where people have been hurt by the cruelty of their first love, this communication does not seem fair.

The rape scene in the film has been the subject of much discussion, and the screenwriter has been accused of justifying a monstrous offense on screen. It is the responsibility of a narrator, and also the filmmaker, to take into account the thoughts of the crowd, when creating a scene on a fragile subject.
