What exactly is delta-8 THC? Well, the delta-8 THC is the chemical compound that produces the “high” or high energy that marijuana users feel when taking the drug. This highly concentrated sweet candy is not regulated by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) because it is considered a herbal dietary supplement and not a narcotic. It was actually sold as a health food for cancer patients and AIDS victims with terminal illness before the drug administration took action against it.

Prior to the recent move to block the delta hard candy from being marketed, no one seemed to realize the huge market potential it had. However, the drug administration realized that hard candy does contain powerful artificial ingredients that could be abused and be extremely harmful. It was actually reported in many news sources that children died on a daily basis in nursing homes because they were given delta hard candy products instead of the real thing. This discovery by the national news media caused the governing state to enact legislation that made it illegal to sell this product to minors.

delta 8 Hard Candy – Is It Safe?

In spite of the new legislation, the Delta Company and the Hard Candy manufacturer continue to cater to a very young audience. In fact, they claim that their product is just safer than traditional sweets like regular hard candy because it has only two ingredients: Stevia and Ethylene oxide. The official government website does not say anything about the amounts of these two ingredients that are contained in the product. You can easily find out this information on the company’s own website if you do an internet search. The only stipulation on the government site is that children over the age of eight should not consume the product.

The manufacturer also claims that the amount of Stevia added to delta is natural and that there is no need to add any other additive. This Stevia is extracted from a specific type of leaf found only in a select few regions in the Kalahari Desert. According to the World Health Organization, it is considered to be safe for human consumption. Even the US FDA agrees that there is no need to regulate the amount of Stevia in the product. In fact, the FDA stated that it is not a controlled substance because it has not been demonstrated to have any abuse potential.

In addition, the only thing known about the long term effects of delta are none. However, health concerns such as diabetes and high blood pressure may be increased in diabetics or hypertensive patients while those with cholesterol problems may benefit from consuming the product. The manufacturers do not state whether their product is safe for lactose intolerant people.
